About Me…
and About wordplay…. (well, actually, for now we’re one and the same…)
Tonya Blowers. (I hate the hard sell but here goes…) I’m a creative writing teacher with a difference. I encourage and support people of all ages, abilities and experience to explore and enjoy writing words. Whether you have always wanted to write a novel, whether you think you’d like to keep a diary, or start blogging, whether you’d just like to have fun with words, whether you’re a published novelist who needs some inspiration or an objective editorial eye, I’m sure I can help!

What?
Maybe you had a bad experience at school and have never recovered? Maybe you just never give yourself the time to sit and write, maybe you don’t know where to begin? Maybe you do a lot of writing in your job, but you’d like to do some writing for yourself – be creative, discover fiction and the world of the imagination. Maybe you have a story in your head that you want to get down on paper but you just don’t know where to start? I have the right course for you.
How?
One-to-one. Well, that sort of speaks for itself. But for more details, go to Editing and 1:1
Day Workshops – I’ve been running workshops in London for five years now. First at The Troubadour in Earls Court, then my local cafe Vanilla in Acton, now in the great baroque/Bohemian function room upstairs at The Rocket (also Acton). These workshops are intense but light, productive but easy-going, inspirational, energising, melting-pots of words. The atmosphere is non-judgmental, feedback is constructive, exercises are both directed and liberating. Come and see for yourself! Or if you want to hear what other people think, go to..Feedback.
Residential Weekend The chance to luxuriate in your writing self. To give up the accounts, or the laundry, or the boss, or colleagues, the everyday stresses of routines and demands of family and work. This is your treat! Throw everything up in the air and just catch your notepad and pencil (or laptop…be careful!). You’ll come home refreshed…and with a whole lot of writing (done – and to be done…)
I’ve run wonderful retreats in Sussex and now I’m looking for a new residential centre in northern Italy. Watch this space.
Weekly courses. The chance to get into a writing routine, to have the structure of regular homework, to grow with a small group of people on your writing journey, and encourage and support each other. Be accountable. Get concrete explanations from the tutor, exercises, feedback. Technical help. Inspirational strategies.
Book Club
Finally get yourself back on the reading track! Read a book a month, and discuss it with others who have just read the same book! Structured, focussed discussion around the book – the author, characters, plot, style, theme…
For more information on any of these activities, go to the relevant page on this site.
Have fun!
